Description
The Wilson Combat SFX9 in its 4-inch configuration is built for the shooter who wants a carry-ready double-stack 9mm that doesn’t ask for compromises in control or fit. It draws on the same 1911 operating platform that Wilson Combat has refined for decades, adapted here to accept a higher-capacity double-stack magazine arrangement without abandoning the single-action trigger feel that makes the format appeal to serious users.
The frame is machined from T6-7075 aluminum — the same alloy used in aircraft and high-stress structural applications — which brings the empty weight down to 29.3 oz while remaining rigid enough to maintain consistent lock-up under sustained fire. A solid one-piece construction eliminates the flex points that frame-rail inserts can introduce, and the X-TAC treatment on the frontstrap and backstrap cuts a tread pattern directly into the frame rather than relying on adhesive grip tape or removable panels.
The 4-inch stainless cone barrel uses a fluted chamber and a fluted barrel body, both of which reduce surface contact with the cartridge to aid extraction reliability, particularly with higher-pressure defensive loads. The cone barrel design also simplifies the lock-up geometry relative to a bushing-based system, which contributes to the consistency Wilson Combat backs with a 1.5-inch accuracy guarantee at 25 yards. The Tri-Top slide profile removes material from the top corners, lowering bore axis perception during recoil without thinning the slide walls where it matters structurally.
The manual thumb safety and concealment-profiled hammer are Bullet Proof® series components, meaning they are machined to Wilson Combat’s own tolerances rather than sourced externally. A red fiber optic front sight provides a fast daylight sight picture, and the RDS slide cover plate means the rear of the slide is already prepared for a red dot if the shooter wants to mount one later. Two 15-round magazines are included.
