Description

The Phantom Q.D. Flash Hider from Yankee Hill Machine is built for shooters who want a capable standalone muzzle device that can also serve as a dedicated mounting point for compatible YHM suppressors. The 1/2″-28 thread pitch suits standard .223/5.56 barrels, and the design handles both roles without compromise.

The five-port configuration disperses propellant gases evenly around the muzzle, which actively breaks up the hot gas column responsible for the visible flash signature. The result is a meaningful reduction in flash without redirecting that energy sideways as a brake would — making it a practical choice for low-light shooting where muzzle flash is a genuine concern rather than an aesthetic one.

Where this device earns its price over a simple flash hider is the quick-detach interface. An external locking mechanism engages the suppressor while deliberately keeping the spring mechanism away from the hottest part of the assembly, which protects the spring from heat cycling that would otherwise degrade it over time. The dust enclosure shields the internal moving parts when no suppressor is mounted, keeping the mechanism clean and functional between range sessions.

The body is machined from 4140 steel with a Black Oxide finish, a combination that resists corrosion and holds up to the thermal stress of sustained fire. At 2.625 inches long and 1.245 inches in diameter, it adds minimal length to the host rifle. YHM specifies torquing the device to between 20 and 30 ft-lbs and advises against crush or peel washers.
