Description

The Yankee Hill Machine Sidewinder Piston is a replacement and cross-platform adapter designed for shooters who run a Sidewinder suppressor across more than one host pistol. Rather than buying a separate suppressor for each firearm, you swap this piston to match the muzzle threads of the next gun and keep the same can in service. That modularity is the point of the Sidewinder system’s redesigned Nielsen device: the booster mechanism that allows a semi-automatic pistol’s slide to cycle reliably when a suppressor is attached adds enough mass to the muzzle that it would otherwise interrupt the slide’s rearward travel. The piston here is the component that compresses under that force and releases it correctly, keeping the action timing intact.

This variant is threaded 1/2″-28, the pitch used on the majority of factory 9mm pistol barrels in the American market, so it fits without an additional adapter on most common hosts. The piston is machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel, a precipitation-hardened alloy chosen for its resistance to the heat and pressure cycling that this component absorbs every time the gun fires. At 1.5 oz and 1.950 inches in length, it adds minimal forward weight. One compatibility note from the manufacturer: this piston is not designed for use with the YHM-2055 1.375″-24 Nielsen Booster.
