Heat mirage rising off bare metal can blur a target at the worst possible moment, and an unguarded can will burn through clothing or skin on incidental contact. The YHM Sound Suppressor Cover addresses both problems with a layered construction built around the specific demands of sustained fire.

The innermost layer, rated to 3,000°F, sits directly against the suppressor body and is designed to stay put rather than shift or rotate under use. A middle insulating layer rated to 1,800°F acts as a thermal buffer before heat can reach the exterior. The outer shell is 1000 Denier Cordura Nylon — a material chosen for its resistance to water, abrasion, rot, mildew, and UV fading rather than for appearance alone. The entire assembly is stitched with fire-resistant thread so no single component is the weak point. Retention is handled by YHM’s locking strap system, which keeps the cover indexed on the suppressor rather than creeping toward the muzzle under recoil or handling.

One honest limitation worth noting: short-barreled 5.56 hosts push an unusually high volume of heat into the suppressor in a short time, and sustained rapid fire on any platform can eventually drive temperatures beyond what the outer shell tolerates. The cover is not a substitute for fire discipline — it is a tool that extends the safe working window and protects against incidental contact.
