Description

A suppressor runs hot, and a bare can brushed against exposed skin or gear can cause a serious burn in an instant. The YHM Sound Suppressor Cover gives you a practical layer between a hot suppressor and anything it might contact, while also cutting down on the heat mirage that bends and distorts your sight picture downrange — a real concern when you are trying to make a precise follow-up shot.

The cover is built in three layers, each doing a specific job. The innermost sleeve handles the direct heat, rated to withstand 3,000°F, and is designed to stay put against the suppressor body rather than migrate during use. A middle buffer material handles the transition zone, rated to 1,800°F, slowing the transfer of heat outward. The outer shell is 1,000 Denier Cordura Nylon, chosen for its resistance to abrasion, water, rot, mildew, and UV fading — materials that matter when the cover is living on a working rifle in rough conditions. Even the thread used throughout the construction is fire resistant, keeping the whole assembly consistent under heat stress.

Retention is handled by YHM’s locking strap system, which holds the cover fixed against the can rather than allowing it to work loose over sustained fire. Shooters running suppressed rifles in short-barrel configurations should be aware that sustained semi-automatic fire — particularly through barrels under 14 inches — generates heat at a rate that can challenge any cover over an extended session; that is a function of the gas dynamics at those lengths, not a defect in the cover itself. This cover is sized and designed to fit the YHM Resonator and Resonator R2 suppressors, and is made in the USA.
