The Phantom flash hider in 7.62mm is built for shooters running .308 Winchester or 7.62 NATO rifles who want meaningful flash reduction without adding visual bulk or snagging on gear. The smooth exterior profile — no aggressive end cuts, no exposed tines — is the defining choice here. It moves cleanly through brush, in and out of cases, and across barriers without catching, which matters more than it sounds once you’ve torn up a kit on a toothed device.

The five-port arrangement does two jobs at once. The ports redirect propellant gas to counteract muzzle rise, giving the design a compensating effect that helps bring the muzzle back on target between shots. Equally important is what those ports don’t include: there is no downward-facing opening. When you’re shooting prone on loose ground or in dry conditions, a downward port kicks up a dust signature that gives away position and interrupts sight picture. Eliminating it is a deliberate trade-off that favors field shooting over bench performance metrics.

Construction is 4140 steel with a Black Oxide finish, which keeps the device from adding unnecessary weight while holding up to the heat generated by sustained fire at .308 pressures. The 5/8″-24 thread pitch is the standard for .308-bore barrels, and a crush washer ships in the box to make timing and installation straightforward. The device adds 1.75 inches to your barrel’s overall length — worth accounting for if you’re working near any length threshold — and comes in at 2 ounces.
