The PWS MK216 Mod 2 complete upper is built for shooters who want a .308 Win platform that runs cleaner and behaves more predictably under sustained fire than a direct-impingement design allows. Primary Weapons Systems centers the whole upper around a long-stroke piston system, where the bolt carrier is driven rearward by a piston rod rather than by gas routed directly into the carrier. That distinction matters in practice: fouling stays forward of the receiver, and the carrier runs cooler and drier over a long range session or when a suppressor is mounted.

The adjustable gas system lets you tune dwell time to match your ammunition or a specific suppressor’s back-pressure without swapping components. Dialing the gas down reduces carrier velocity and felt recoil impulse; dialing it up ensures reliable cycling with lighter loads or when the rifle is running dirty. That range of adjustment is what makes the platform genuinely suppressor-friendly rather than just compatible in a nominal sense.

The upper is designed around the AR-10/LR-308 pattern, so it mates with a wide range of compatible lowers already in circulation. Primary Weapons Systems fits the MK216 with their FRC compensator as the muzzle device, which is tuned to work in concert with the piston system’s already-reduced muzzle rise. Ambidextrous controls are integrated at the factory, not added as aftermarket parts, and the inclusion of an A5 buffer system interface means the lower side of the equation can be tuned to complement the piston carrier’s mass and velocity.
