Description
The GL/SSC pistol is built around one of the more historically significant configurations in the Daniel Defense lineup — a platform that traces its roots to a run so limited that fewer than three dozen ever reached civilian hands in its original form. This is the first time Daniel Defense has made it broadly available, and it is aimed at shooters who want an authentic, factory-built interpretation of that configuration rather than a parts-bin approximation.
The 12.5-inch Cold Hammer Forged barrel runs on a carbine-length gas system. Compared to a mid-length setup, carbine timing increases the dwell time available for reliable cycling with a wider range of suppressors and ammunition, at the cost of slightly sharper bolt carrier impulse — a trade-off that experienced short-barreled platform shooters will recognize immediately. The bore is chrome-lined and finished in a heavy phosphate coating, which prioritizes corrosion resistance and long-term wear tolerance over the last fraction of accuracy you might squeeze from a match-grade alternative.
The free-floating GL/SSC RIS II rail is the defining feature of this build. It integrates the M203 grenade launcher mounting hanger system directly into the rail body — no adapter kits, no separate components. That same hanger geometry also makes the platform suppressor-ready without affecting barrel harmonics, since the barrel floats independently of the handguard. The rail provides full-length accessory real estate on all four sides without putting any load on the barrel itself.
The barrel is threaded at 1/2×28 TPI and ships with a DD A2 flash hider. A DD Magazine and a Daniel Defense full-latch impact plastic case are included.
