AM DEF 1700-XLR RISER

Description

The American Defense Manufacturing AD-1700-XLR is a Picatinny riser mount built around one specific problem: getting a red dot or holographic sight high enough, and far enough forward, to work alongside helmet-mounted night vision equipment. Standard flat-top mounting leaves optics sitting too low for comfortable use with nods flipped down in front of the eye, and positions them too far rearward to clear the eyepiece without awkward head placement. This mount addresses both issues at once.

The forward cantilever shifts the optic out over the handguard rather than keeping it above the receiver. That geometry lets a shooter transition between magnified and unmagnified views, or between a primary optic and nods, without repositioning their head. The 0.60-inch rise lifts the sight above the rail surface to a centerline height that works directly with EOTech XPS and EXPS housings — the two models differ in body height, which is why the resulting centerline height differs between them. Neither scenario requires shimming or additional adapters.

The QD lever system lets the entire mount come off the rail and go back on without tools, and without requiring a re-zero when reattachment is done correctly. That matters most in configurations where the optic assembly is removed for storage or transport and needs to return to the same position. American Defense machines the mount from 6061-T6 aluminum and applies a hard coat anodized finish, the same basic construction approach the company uses across its mount lineup. The 5.5-inch rail length gives enough space for an EOTech body and a magnifier side by side on the same platform.
