Description
The AD-Recon is a cantilever scope mount built for mounting high-magnification glass on a flat-top AR-15 where eye relief would otherwise be a compromise. The cantilever design shifts the scope forward along the rail, so you get a natural cheek weld and a full sight picture without crowding the eyepiece back toward the receiver. That offset is the whole point of a mount like this — it solves a geometry problem that a standard set of rings cannot.
American Defense machines the AD-Recon from 6061-T6 aluminum and finishes it in a hard coat Type III Mil-Spec anodize, which leaves a dense, wear-resistant surface rather than a painted-on coating. The clamping system uses ADM’s patented QD Auto Lock Lever, which can be set to lock forward or rearward depending on your preference. The lever adjusts with a finger or a flat-blade screwdriver — no proprietary tool required — and the adjustment range is wide enough to accommodate rails that are in spec and those that are not. When you pull the mount, it returns to the same position on re-installation, which is the practical value of any quick-detach system: you can swap between optics and come back to zero without re-zeroing from scratch.
The standard lever variant uses a straight lever profile. If you find yourself working around it in the dark or with gloves, ADM also offers the same mount with a tactical lever that has a more pronounced grip surface — but on the standard version, simplicity is the trade-off. The mount carries ADM’s lifetime warranty and is made in the United States.
