The Arisaka Zero Retention Clamp addresses a specific and well-known problem with the MCX Spear LT platform: when a handguard flexes under the weight of accessories, anything mounted to it — particularly a laser aiming device — shifts its zero relative to the bore. That shift may be small in isolation, but it compounds with temperature changes, handling, and repeated stress, and it undermines the reliability of any precision-dependent setup. This clamp is built to stop that movement at the source.

The design is a rigid U-clamp that attaches directly to the lower receiver, bridging the gap between the receiver and the handguard without contacting the barrel. That last point matters: the barrel remains free-floating, so the accuracy benefits of the original free-float design are preserved while the handguard’s rotational and lateral play is eliminated. A clamp that bore against the barrel would introduce its own point of contact and variable pressure, defeating the purpose.
