Description

The BCM A2X is a direct extension of the military A2 flash hider geometry — specifically, a longer version of the birdcage-style suppressor fitted to M16 and M4 platforms. Where the standard A2 hider was sized to keep overall rifle length compact, the A2X adds length forward of the muzzle, which serves builders who need to bring a shorter barrel’s overall length up without changing the bore or the gas system. The extra length is functional, not decorative: the additional prongs still vent propellant gas upward to keep the muzzle from climbing, preserving the handling characteristic that made the original A2 design a field standard for decades.

Construction is machined 4150 steel — the same grade used in mil-spec barrels — finished in manganese phosphate per MIL-STD-171. That finish resists corrosion and minimizes reflective surface at the muzzle, and it matches the park finish found on most mil-spec AR components, so the A2X sits visually consistent on a standard carbine build. A pre-drilled hole at the base accepts a dowel pin, allowing a gunsmith to permanently affix the device rather than rely on the crush washer alone. The crush washer and dowel pin are both included. Threads are cut 1/2″-28 tpi, the standard for 5.56mm AR-pattern muzzle devices. Installation requiring permanent attachment should be handled by a qualified gunsmith.
