Description

The BCM MK2 Recoil Mitigation System Mod 1 – T2 is a complete buffer system replacement for shooters who want to reduce felt recoil without trading away the cycling reliability their platform depends on. It addresses a real tension in carbine buffer design: heavier buffers slow the carrier down, which softens the recoil impulse, but taken too far that approach can cause short-stroking or inconsistent lockback. BCM’s answer is a system built around controlling carrier velocity rather than simply adding weight.

The heart of that approach is the T2 buffer itself, which uses an internal counterweight with increased travel distance. That extra travel lets the counterweight work against bolt bounce — the secondary rearward hop the bolt carrier makes after chambering a round — which is a common source of perceived harshness in carbine-length systems. An internal spring prevents the counterweight from shifting randomly between shots, so the weight placement stays consistent and the noise of it moving around is largely eliminated.

Rather than pairing the T2 buffer with a standard carbine spring, the kit uses a Mil-Spec M16A4 rifle action spring. The rifle spring carries more coils than its M4 carbine counterpart, which extends the operating envelope and helps the system stay reliable across a wider range of ammunition and gas pressures. The buffer itself is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and hard coat anodized. The included MK2 Receiver Extension runs approximately three-quarters of an inch longer than a standard carbine tube and offers eight positions. A castle lock nut and a QD end plate with a swivel mount are included, so the kit installs without sourcing additional hardware. One practical note: because of the extension’s added length, some Mil-Spec stocks may not fully collapse against the lock nut.
