Description
The Yankee Hill Machine YHM-925-A is a replacement buffer built specifically for 9mm AR-platform carbines running carbine stocks. A standard mil-spec buffer is sized and weighted for rifle cartridges, and when 9mm blowback or 9mm-adapted bolt carriers cycle against one, the geometry and mass aren’t quite right for that application. This buffer addresses that by adding both length and weight relative to a standard carbine buffer, which slows the bolt carrier’s rearward travel and absorbs the cycling energy more appropriately for 9mm operation.
The added length serves a second, mechanical purpose: it limits how far the bolt carrier can travel rearward, reducing the force that the carrier would otherwise transfer to the bolt catch on the lower receiver. That repeated impact is a common failure point in 9mm carbine builds, and engineering the buffer to act as a travel limiter is a straightforward fix that preserves the bolt catch over time.
Construction is stainless steel throughout, which handles the repeated compression loads without deforming the way polymer-bodied buffers can under sustained use. The buffer ships with a mil-spec bumper already installed, so it drops into any standard carbine buffer tube without additional hardware. At 5.9 ounces, it carries enough mass to smooth the cycling without requiring a spring change in most setups, though tuning to your specific bolt carrier and ammunition is always worth doing. Made in the USA by Yankee Hill Machine.
