The BPBA17-300 is built for hunters and long-range shooters who want to drop a precision barreled action into a chassis or stock of their own choosing rather than buy a complete rifle and work around its furniture. You get Bergara’s Premier Series bolt action and a finished, ready-to-shoot barrel without paying for a stock you plan to replace anyway.

The barrel follows Bergara’s No. 5.5 contour, the same profile used on the HMR Pro rifle. That contour sits between a lightweight hunting taper and a heavy target profile, which means it resists the harmonic disturbances that open groups during rapid strings while still keeping weight at a level that doesn’t punish you on a mountain hunt. The barrel is 416 stainless steel and ships threaded 5/8-24 with a thread protector installed, so a muzzle device can go on without additional machining.

The 1-in-10-inch twist rate is the practical standard for .300 Winchester Magnum and stabilizes the full range of hunting and match bullets commonly loaded for that cartridge — from 165-grain soft points up through 230-grain high-BC projectiles — without requiring you to sort carefully by bullet weight. Scope mounting uses the Remington 700 pattern, which means the widest possible selection of aftermarket bases and rings will fit directly without adapters.

At 5.8 pounds before optics and stock, this barreled action gives a custom-rifle builder a realistic starting point for a finished rifle that won’t punish the shooter at either end of the trigger pull.
