The barrel is a No. 6 contour CURE, which is Bergara’s carbon fiber over stainless steel construction. The stainless core is cut and rifled the same way as their all-steel barrels, then wrapped in carbon fiber to pull weight back down toward what a slender sporter profile would weigh. The practical result is a barrel that handles heat the way a heavier contour would during a string of shots, without the carry weight that a comparable all-steel No. 6 profile would add to a backcountry setup. At 4.2 pounds for the complete barreled action, there is meaningful room left in a build’s total weight budget for a stock and optic.

The 1-in-8 inch twist rate is well suited to the heavier, high-BC projectiles that make 6.5 PRC useful at extended range — bullets in the 140- to 156-grain range stabilize reliably at this rate, so handloaders and factory ammunition buyers alike have a wide selection to work with. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 with a thread protector included, so running a brake or a suppressor requires no additional machining. Scope bases use the Remington 700 pattern with 8-40 threads, meaning the optics hardware most precision shooters already own will mount directly.
