Description
The Bergara BMR was built for two types of rimfire shooters: the competitor running NRL22 base-class stages who needs a light, fast-cycling bolt rifle, and the small-game hunter who wants a packable, accurate .22 LR without lugging unnecessary weight into the field. Both get the same foundation — a Bergara action scaled down from the company’s centerfire B-14 platform, so the ergonomics and bolt feel carry over rather than requiring a shooter to relearn a completely foreign interface.
The carbon fiber barrel is the central weight-reduction choice here. Bergara wraps a No. 6 taper steel core in carbon fiber rather than turning down a heavy steel blank, which brings the rifle in at five pounds without compromising the rigidity that accuracy depends on. At 18 inches, the barrel is short enough for maneuvering in brush or through a stage with tight barricades, while still giving .22 LR enough dwell time to produce consistent velocities. The 1-in-16 twist is a conventional rate for standard and match .22 LR ammunition — it stabilizes 40-grain bullets reliably but is not optimized for heavier or subsonic projectiles, so ammunition selection matters if you intend to run it suppressed. Speaking of which, the threaded muzzle is cut at 1/2-28 tpi, the standard thread pitch for .22 LR suppressors and muzzle devices.
The integrated scope base eliminates the guesswork of sourcing a compatible ring-and-base system; a scope goes straight onto the receiver without an adapter. The rifle ships with both a 5-round and a 10-round magazine, so you have the hunting configuration and the competition configuration in the box from day one.
