The barrel is the heart of the design and the most technically ambitious part of it. Bergara’s CURE carbon barrel is not a steel liner simply wrapped in carbon fiber. It integrates embedded stainless steel strands within the carbon weave specifically to manage heat distribution, which is the central weakness of most carbon-wrapped barrels — uneven heating causes the barrel to walk shots as it warms. By actively conducting heat rather than letting it pool, the CURE construction is intended to maintain consistent point of impact across a string of shots, not just the first cold bore round.

The 1:8 twist rate suits the .22 Creedmoor’s velocity profile and is well-matched to heavier, high-BC projectiles in that bore diameter — the caliber was built around pushing long, sleek bullets fast, and a slower twist would leave those bullets under-stabilized at range.
