Description
The Bergara Premier Competition is built for precision rifle sport shooting — specifically the demands of PRS-style competition, where rapid positional shooting and sub-MOA accuracy under pressure matter more than packability or weight savings. If you are looking for a production-class rifle you can take to a match without spending weekends building a custom, this is what Bergara designed it to be.
The chassis is the MPA BA, a design purpose-built for long-range tactical competition. It offers the adjustability that field positions demand and accepts standard AICS-pattern magazines, which is the format most match shooters are already organized around. The included 10-round AICS magazine fits flush and feeds reliably from the detachable box system.
The 1-in-7.5-inch twist rate is optimized for the heavier, high-BC projectiles that 6mm Creedmoor shooters typically run in competition — think 105- to 115-grain bullets in the 0.530-plus BC range. A faster twist stabilizes those long, slender projectiles where a slower rate would not. That choice narrows your ammunition selection at the light end but pays off at distance where the heavier bullets hold velocity and resist wind deflection.
The stainless steel barrel runs a No. 7 taper profile — heavier than a hunting contour — which reduces harmonic variability as the barrel heats across a match stage and slows the rate at which point of impact shifts during extended strings. The TriggerTech Special trigger uses TriggerTech’s Frictionless Release Technology, eliminating the creep that causes anticipation-induced flinch at the break. The Arca Swiss rail integrated into the chassis lets you index the rifle on a tripod or Arca-compatible rest without separate hardware, a practical advantage during stage setup.
