Description
The Bergara Premier HMR Pro is built around a single premise: a precision bolt gun that works equally well from a hunting blind or a long-range match stage, without requiring the shooter to compromise on either. It suits the serious rifleman who wants a platform that can be tuned to fit and who shoots at distances where every mechanical variable shows up on paper.
The action uses a two-lug design with a separate floating bolt head, which keeps the lugs in consistent contact with their abutments regardless of normal manufacturing variation — a detail that matters for shot-to-shot consistency. A cone-shaped bolt nose guides cartridges into the chamber smoothly under field conditions, and the spring-loaded sliding plate extractor sits at the front of the lower locking lug rather than riding in a groove cut into the bolt body, preserving the full lug bearing surface. The bolt head, non-rotating gas shield, and bolt shroud are all nitrided, which handles surface hardness and lubricity without adding meaningful weight.
The 416 stainless steel barrel goes through Bergara’s in-house honing process before receiving a Tactical Grey Cerakote finish, and it runs fully free-floated inside the stock. A 1-in-9″ twist is well-matched to the heavier, high-BC projectiles that make .300 PRC useful at extended range — bullets in the 225–250 grain class stabilize reliably at that rate without the over-spin that can open up groups with some lighter options. The muzzle is threaded 5/8″-24, the standard pitch for .30-caliber muzzle devices.
The HMR stock integrates a mini-chassis for repeatable bedding rather than relying on pillar bedding or free-bedding compound, and it accepts length-of-pull spacers and an adjustable cheekpiece — both relevant for getting behind a scope consistently across different shooting positions. Optics mount on a Remington 700-pattern base using 8-40 screws, keeping the scope platform compatible with a wide range of existing hardware. The included AICS-pattern magazine means drop-in compatibility with aftermarket alternatives is straightforward.
