Description
The B-14 Hunter is Bergara’s entry point for serious big-game hunters who want a Spanish-made barrel without paying a premium for a stock-heavy chassis or a target-oriented platform. It is built around a bolt action designed for the field: a two-lug system with a coned bolt nose and coned breech that guides cartridges into the chamber cleanly even when your hands are cold or your angle is awkward, and a sliding plate extractor that pulls spent cases reliably rather than depending on a narrow hook that can lose its bite over time.
The 4140 CrMo steel barrel carries a No. 4 taper, which is heavier than a pencil-profile hunting barrel. That mass absorbs heat across a string of shots and adds some dampening to the natural harmonic vibration that opens groups when a barrel is pushed hard. The Graphite Black Cerakote finish resists moisture and abrasion without adding the maintenance demands of blued steel, which matters on a rifle that will spend time in rain and against brush.
The stock is glass fiber reinforced polymer with a SoftTouch coating that keeps grip purchase in wet conditions. Rather than free-floating the action in a loose channel, Bergara molds steel pillars directly into the stock during manufacture, giving the barreled action a stable, repeatable seating surface that does not compress or shift with changes in humidity the way wood bedding blocks can. The rifle is drilled and tapped to accept Remington 700 bases, which opens up a wide range of scope mounting options without custom work. A hinged floorplate holds four rounds in the internal box magazine, and the trigger comes factory-set at approximately three pounds with a curved face designed for a consistent pull position shot to shot.
