Description
The B-14 Hunter is Bergara’s entry point for serious big-game hunters who want a field-ready bolt-action without paying for features they will never use. It is built around the same barrel-making process Bergara applies across its entire lineup, which means the accuracy standard here is not a concession to the price point.
The action is a two-lug design with a coned bolt nose and breech. That geometry guides the cartridge into the chamber during feeding and helps the case head clear the extractor cleanly on the way out — both of which matter when you are working the bolt quickly on a follow-up shot. A sliding plate extractor pulls the spent case positively rather than relying on spring tension alone, which contributes to consistent extraction across a range of chamber pressures.
The 1-in-8″ twist rate is well-suited to the 7mm PRC’s practical bullet weight range. Heavier, high-BC projectiles in the 160–175 grain class stabilize reliably at that rate, which is exactly the ammunition this cartridge was designed around for long-range hunting use. Shooters who want to handload or experiment with lighter bullets in the 140–150 grain range will still get adequate stabilization.
The barrel carries a Graphite Black Cerakote finish, which resists moisture and abrasion through field conditions. The stock is a glass fiber reinforced polymer — not a wood-grain laminate or a premium chassis, just a practical, weather-resistant hunting stock that keeps the overall weight manageable. The hinged floor plate magazine holds three rounds of 7mm PRC, with one in the chamber, keeping the system flush and snag-free in a saddle scabbard or tight pack pocket.
