The Premier MgLite is built for the hunter who covers serious ground before the shot — backcountry elk country, steep alpine terrain, situations where every pound on your back compounds over miles. The design starts with an XLR Element 4.0 chassis machined from magnesium, a metal that achieves meaningful weight reduction over aluminum while retaining the rigidity a precision chassis needs. That chassis ships configured with a carbon fiber folding buttstock and carbon fiber grip, and the folder is a practical backcountry feature rather than an aesthetic one: it shortens the rifle for tight cover and pack straps without requiring any disassembly.

The barrel is Bergara’s CURE Carbon, which addresses a real engineering problem with carbon-wrapped barrels. Standard carbon fiber and steel expand at different rates as temperature rises, which can shift point of impact across a string of shots. Bergara’s approach embeds stainless strands within the carbon weave to transfer heat more evenly, keeping the barrel’s behavior consistent shot to shot. The 1-in-8 inch twist rate is well matched to the heavier, higher-BC projectiles that shooters typically run in 6.5 PRC, generally bullets in the 140–147 grain range. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 and ships with an Omni Muzzle Brake fitted.

The Premier action uses a two-lug design with a separate floating bolt head, which keeps the lugs in positive contact with the action’s abutments regardless of minor dimensional variation. The bolt head, gas shield, and shroud are Nitrided — a surface treatment that improves wear resistance and reduces the need for lubrication, both relevant in wet or dusty field conditions. The TriggerTech trigger uses Frictionless Release Technology, eliminating the sear-on-sear friction that contributes to creep. The two-position safety allows the bolt to be cycled and the rifle unloaded while the safety is engaged. Scope mounting uses a Remington 700 footprint with 8-40 screws, keeping the rifle compatible with a wide range of existing bases and rings.
