Description
The Bootleg Four Position Adjustable Carrier is a complete bolt carrier group built specifically for AR-platform rifles chambered in 5.56/.223, and it addresses one of the more practical problems that comes with running a suppressor: excess gas pressure cycling back into the action. When you add a suppressor to an AR, back-pressure increases substantially, which tends to shorten extraction timing, increase bolt velocity, and drive more fouling and gas into the shooter’s face. The Bootleg carrier handles this through a 4-Setting Adjustable Vent System machined into the carrier body itself, which bleeds off gas before it can drive the bolt rearward with more force than the system needs. That adjustment changes the effective dwell time — how long the bolt stays locked before it begins to travel — letting you tune the rifle’s behavior to the specific suppressor, ammunition, and gas port pressure you’re working with rather than accepting whatever the fixed geometry of a standard carrier gives you.
The four discrete settings give you meaningful steps between positions rather than the guesswork of a continuously variable system, and critically, you can rotate the adjustment pin while the carrier is seated in the lower — no partial disassembly required to make a change between strings of fire. The pin also pulls free entirely for cleaning, so it doesn’t complicate routine maintenance. The carrier is machined from S7 tool steel and finished in Lithium Isonite, a ferritic nitrocarburizing process that improves surface hardness and corrosion resistance without dimensional changes that would affect fit. The gas key is staked to MIL-SPEC standard and the design is full-auto rated, meaning the carrier geometry meets M16 profile specifications and uses standard MIL-SPEC internal components throughout.
