Description

The Hoppe’s BoreSnake Viper with Den is a pull-through bore cleaner built for shooters who want a fast, thorough cleaning session without disassembling a rod kit at the range or in the field. It is sized for .38, .357, 9mm, and .380 caliber pistol bores, making it a practical single tool for anyone running multiple handguns in that family of bore diameters.

The Viper’s cleaning sequence is designed to address fouling in one deliberate pass. A loop at the leading end picks up loose carbon and debris before anything else contacts the bore. A set of integrated bronze brushes then works the rifling directly, scrubbing out the compacted carbon that patches alone tend to smear rather than remove. Behind the brushes, a flared absorbent tail — with a surface area roughly 160 times that of a standard cleaning patch — sweeps out whatever the brushes broke free. Compared to the original BoreSnake, the Viper adds a second set of brushes, which increases mechanical scrubbing without requiring a second pass.

A cone-shaped bore guide on the leading end keeps the cleaner centered as it enters the muzzle, reducing the chance of the brass weight scratching the crown. That weight is also stamped with the caliber, so there is no guessing which snake belongs to which firearm when you have several in a range bag. The included Den storage case protects the snake between uses and gives it somewhere to live other than the bottom of a bag where it collects lint. A T-handle threads onto the pull cord for better grip, which matters when the brush section hits resistance in a fouled bore.
