Description

The BoreSnake Viper Den from Hoppe’s is a pull-through bore cleaning system designed for .22 and .223/5.56 caliber rifles, including M16-pattern platforms. It suits shooters who want a thorough bore clean without the setup and cleanup burden of a traditional rod, jag, and patch routine — particularly at the range or in the field where space and time are limited.

Where a standard patch contacts only a fraction of the bore surface on a single pass, the woven tail on the Viper is engineered to provide 160 times that surface area, pulling accumulated fouling and debris clear in one draw rather than requiring repeated passes. Ahead of the tail, three integrated bronze bore brushes — one more than the original BoreSnake — scrub out carbon deposits left by combustion gases. A cone-shaped bore guide built into the leading end helps seat the tool at the chamber mouth cleanly, reducing the fumbling that comes with getting a pull-through started in a cold barrel.

The brass weight at the pull cord end has the caliber stamped directly on it, which keeps the tool identifiable when you have multiple BoreSnakes in a bag. The included Den case adds practical value beyond storage: the lid is designed to double as a T-handle, giving you something solid to grip when pulling through a tight bore. The case itself is sized to drop into a range bag or pack without taking up meaningful space, and it keeps the tail and brushes from picking up debris between uses.
