Description
The Bushnell R3 is a hunting and field binocular aimed at the shooter or hunter who wants a capable, weather-ready optic without carrying a premium price into the backcountry. It is built around an HD optical system that increases light transmission, contrast, and resolution — qualities that matter most in the low-angle light of early morning or late evening when game is moving. BaK-4 prisms sit at the heart of the optical path; this glass type maintains a circular exit pupil across the full aperture, which keeps the image bright and even to the edges rather than showing the clipped, squared-off effect that lower-grade prism materials can introduce.
The lenses receive a fully multi-coated treatment, meaning every air-to-glass surface carries anti-reflective coatings rather than only the outer elements. That distinction matters because each uncoated surface can scatter or absorb a measurable fraction of incoming light, and the losses compound across a multi-element optical system. On top of the coatings, Bushnell applies their EXO Barrier treatment, a proprietary molecular bond that repels water, oil, and dust rather than letting them sit and scatter light on the outer lens surfaces. The housing is rated IPX-7 waterproof and nitrogen-purged internally, so condensation fogging is not a concern when moving between temperature extremes. Eye relief of 21mm makes the R3 usable with eyeglasses without having to press the bino against your face. A tripod adapter socket allows stable mounting when glassing from a fixed position, and a Vault Lite chest pack is included for hands-free carry in the field. The Ranger Green finish suits most natural environments without drawing attention.
