Description
A red dot sight gives you fast target acquisition at close to moderate range, but it leaves a gap when targets push further out. The Bushnell AR Optics Transition 3X Magnifier is designed to close that gap without forcing you to swap to a traditional scope. It mounts behind any red dot on a Picatinny rail and adds a fixed 3x magnification layer to whatever optic you are already running. The flip-to-side mount is ambidextrous, so when you need to drop back to unmagnified shooting, one motion clears it out of your line of sight entirely.
One practical consideration when running a magnifier behind a standard LED red dot: the dot itself enlarges along with the target. Keeping a red dot with a smaller MOA rating will help preserve your precision at distance. This is a characteristic of the technology, not a flaw in this particular unit, and it is worth accounting for when pairing optics.
The 30mm tube houses fully multi-coated lenses, which work to maximize light transmission rather than letting each glass surface bleed brightness away. The eyepiece offers fast-focus adjustment so you can dial in a sharp image for your vision without tools. The optic is sealed to IPX7 waterproofing standards, nitrogen-purged against internal fogging, and built to handle the recoil and field abuse that come with rifle use. Bushnell markets the Transition as a natural companion to their TRS-25 red dot, but the mount system is not proprietary and it will work behind other manufacturers’ red dots as well.
