Description

The CGS Helios DT is a dedicated 5.56mm suppressor built for shooters who want serious weight savings without sacrificing durability. It is purpose-designed for hosts chambered in .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO, and CGS specifies it for use on barrels of 10 inches or longer.

The entire tube and core are constructed from 6AL4V Grade 5 titanium, a material chosen specifically because it delivers a high strength-to-weight ratio that allows the suppressor to stay light while holding up under sustained fire. The core itself is manufactured using Direct Metal Laser Sintering — a 3D printing process that works in titanium — which reduces the number of potential failure points compared to conventionally assembled baffles and opens up internal geometries that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to machine. The interior of the core is coated with Boron Nitride, which resists carbon fouling and buildup, keeping the bore cleaner through extended use and simplifying maintenance.

The Helios DT incorporates CGS’s Variable Core Diameter technology, originally developed for the Hyperion line. This approach varies the internal bore diameter along the suppressor’s length to balance sound reduction, flash suppression, and point-of-impact shift. The DT designation refers to its direct thread mount, threaded at 1/2×28, making it a straightforward, low-profile attachment without a separate mount system to manage. CGS notes a minimal and repeatable point-of-impact shift when the suppressor is installed, which matters for precision shooting where consistency on and off the can affects zero.
