Description
The Colt Government is the pattern against which every other full-size 1911 gets measured. This model suits the shooter who wants a standard-configuration Government-size pistol without modification—a platform that has enough aftermarket depth to go anywhere the owner wants to take it, but that ships in a usable, honest configuration from the factory.
The two-tone finish pairs a stainless-steel slide with a blued frame and blued small parts. That arrangement is functional as well as distinctive: stainless on the slide resists surface rust in humid or wet conditions, while the blued frame keeps weight and cost in line with a traditional Government build. The contrast also makes the slide easier to visually track during a malfunction drill.
Single-action operation means the hammer must be cocked before the trigger will release it—either by racking the slide or by carrying the pistol cocked-and-locked with the manual thumb safety engaged. That keeps the trigger pull short and consistent shot to shot, which rewards deliberate marksmanship but places responsibility for safe handling squarely on the shooter’s discipline and familiarity with the platform. The beavertail grip safety addresses one of the classic 1911 handling complaints: it extends the tang far enough rearward that a high grip doesn’t result in slide bite, and it ensures the safety is positively depressed on a proper firing grip without requiring any conscious adjustment.
Three-dot sights give the shooter a straightforward alignment reference and are a serviceable starting point for those who intend to swap to a night-sight or fiber-optic setup later. The pistol ships with one eight-round magazine, giving a capacity of eight rounds in the magazine plus one chambered.
