The barrel is cold hammer forged from chrome moly vanadium steel and chrome lined inside, which keeps it consistent as it heats up and makes cleaning straightforward after a long day out. At 18 inches with a mid-length gas system, the dwell time is balanced to smooth out the impulse compared to a carbine-length setup — you get a noticeably softer and more deliberate cycling action, which matters when you want a clean follow-up shot rather than a frenetic one. The 1-in-7-inch twist rate stabilizes heavier projectiles reliably, so handloaders and hunters reaching for 62-grain or heavier bullets can expect good consistency across a range of hunting loads.

The MFR 15.0 free-floating handguard runs nearly the full length of the barrel, isolating it from sling tension and grip pressure so the point of impact stays consistent however you hold the rifle. M-LOK slots along the sides and bottom let you configure a bipod, light, or other field gear without adding permanent bulk. The barrel is threaded at 1/2×28 and ships with a knurled thread protector that removes without tools if you want to attach a muzzle device.
