Description

The Daniel Defense Grip-N-Rip is a charging handle built around two specific problems that come up with suppressed AR-10 shooting: gas blowback into the shooter’s face, and latch designs that favor one hand over the other. It addresses both without adding unnecessary bulk or complexity.

The anti-gas channel redirects propellant gas upward and away from the shooter rather than letting it vent rearward toward the eye and face. That matters most when running a suppressor, where backpressure through the charging handle gap is amplified, but it’s a legitimate comfort improvement in unsuppressed use as well. The design routes the gas deliberately, not just passively — it’s an engineered path, not a simple gap reduction.

Both handles operate their latch independently, so a left-handed shooter doesn’t have to fight a handle that was designed as an afterthought for their support hand. Either side functions the same way, with the same throw and resistance. The handles themselves are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and Type III hard coat anodized for corrosion resistance and wear, while the main body steps up to 7075-T6 aluminum — a denser alloy that handles the higher stress at the receiver interface. The latch returns to 6061 where weight savings matter more than extreme stress resistance. Roll pins are stainless steel throughout.

Compatibility matters with AR-10 pattern rifles because the platform lacks a single standard. This handle fits all DD5 GEN II variants — specifically the V3, V4, and V5 — and all DPMS Gen 1 length AR-10 rifles. It does not fit the DD5 V1 or V2.
