Description

The DDM4 V7 is Daniel Defense’s mid-length workhorse — a rifle suited to defensive use, carbine courses, and general-purpose shooting where a full-size AR makes sense. It is built around a cold hammer forged barrel with a chrome-lined bore, which maintains consistent dimensions through forging pressure rather than cutting, and the chrome lining resists fouling and corrosion under sustained fire. The mid-length gas system is the detail that separates this from shorter-gassed carbines: by pulling gas from further down the barrel, it operates at lower pressure and over a longer cycle duration, which softens the bolt’s rearward impulse and reduces the wear rate on the bolt carrier group over time compared to a carbine-length setup.

The 1:7-inch twist rate stabilizes heavier projectiles reliably — anything from 62-grain M855 through 77-grain open-tip match loads seats well within that twist’s stability envelope, so the rifle is not limited to lighter ammunition. The MFR 15.0 handguard uses M-LOK attachment rather than a full-length rail, which removes weight from positions you are not using while still allowing accessories to be anchored at seven positions around the tube. An uninterrupted 1913 Picatinny rail runs the full length of the top, so optic mounting does not require an additional riser or adapter.

The GRIP-N-RIP charging handle is independently ambidextrous — each latch operates on its own rather than requiring both sides to move together, which matters for support-hand manipulations under pressure. The lower receiver is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with a flared magazine well and a rear QD swivel point already integrated. Sights are not included and should be selected separately based on the optic platform the shooter intends to run.
