Description
Federal Premium Prairie Storm FS Lead is built for upland hunters who push pheasants, sharptail, or Hungarian partridge in open country where birds flush wild and shots come at distance. The load’s defining feature is its dual-payload construction: each shell combines conventional lead shot with FliteStopper lead pellets, which are stamped with a raised cutting ring that creates a wider wound channel on impact. That mix of standard and FliteStopper pellets in the same charge means every pattern contains both deep-penetrating round shot and pellets designed to transfer energy more aggressively on contact.
What makes Prairie Storm FS distinct from standard Prairie Storm is the FliteControl Flex wad. Unlike a conventional wad that releases the shot column immediately after leaving the muzzle, FliteControl Flex holds the payload together longer before peeling back, which delays pellet spread and keeps the pattern tighter at the ranges where upland hunting typically happens. The Flex version of the wad is designed to work through both standard and ported chokes, giving it broader compatibility than the original FliteControl wad, which could produce erratic patterns through some ported tubes. At 1,500 fps with a 1-1/4 oz payload, the load runs fast enough to carry sufficient energy to the bird without becoming punishing to shoot through a light upland gun over a long day afield. The 2-3/4-inch hull fits any standard 12-gauge chamber and works through a wide range of field guns. Boxes contain 25 shells.
