LANTAC BC-PRO UPGRADE BOLT CATCH

Description

The BC-PRO is Lantac’s answer to one of the most overlooked weak points in a standard AR-15 lower: the bolt catch. Mil-spec bolt catches are typically investment-cast or MIM (metal injection molded), which limits the precision of their geometry and leaves the paddle area relatively thin around the pivot hole. The BC-PRO is precision CNC machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel in H900 condition — a precipitation-hardened alloy that delivers substantially greater hardness and fatigue resistance than the mild steel used in most standard components. That material choice matters most at the pivot hole, where repeated cycling concentrates stress; Lantac redesigned the supporting geometry in that area specifically to reduce the risk of deformation over time.

The surface finish is QPQ nitride applied to AMS2753D specification, a process that penetrates the metal rather than sitting on top of it. This means the corrosion and wear resistance it provides is not sacrificed when the surface is scratched — relevant for a part that sees constant contact with the bolt carrier group.

The paddle itself is enlarged and carries an aggressive grip texture, which makes one-handed bolt releases more positive, particularly with gloves or in wet conditions. The geometry sits low enough that the risk of inadvertent engagement during normal handling remains minimal. Installation uses the existing mil-spec spring and plunger from your lower — those parts are not included, so if you are building fresh, source them separately. A roll pin is included. Compatibility is confirmed for forged receiver sets and Lantac’s own Raven and Onyx receiver sets; fitment in other billet lowers should be verified before purchase.
