Description
The Lantac Enhanced Side Charger Bolt Carrier Group is built for shooters who want a side-charging AR-15 setup without sacrificing the reliability or longevity of the carrier itself. The side-charging configuration eliminates the need for a separate ambi or extended charging handle, keeping the charging stroke low and close to the receiver — a practical advantage for shooters running optics mounted far forward or working from awkward positions.
The carrier is machined from 8620 steel and finished throughout in Nickel Boron, which offers a hard, low-friction surface that resists corrosion and simplifies cleaning. Unlike a chrome lining applied only to the gas key bore, the Nickel Boron coating covers the entire group, so the carrier body, bolt, and cam pin all shed carbon more readily than bare steel. The gas key is hard chrome lined internally and staked at four points using Grade 8 fasteners — details that matter for long-term gas seal integrity under sustained fire.
Lantac’s forward-facing, enlarged gas ports are the functional core of the design. By venting gas forward rather than rearward, the carrier reduces the volume of hot gas pushed back into the upper receiver during the firing cycle. The result is a cooler, cleaner operating environment over extended strings of fire, and notably less back-pressure into the receiver when running a suppressor. The flared tail section improves the carrier’s lockup consistency within the upper, which contributes to repeatable bolt positioning. The cam pin is machined from 17-4PH stainless steel with a domed head to reduce wear on the upper receiver’s interior. All critical dimensions are hard turned or ground after heat treatment. The group is compatible with both semi-automatic and full-auto lower configurations and carries a lifetime warranty. Made in Fort Worth, Texas.
