LANTAC LAMPREY 5.56 1/2X28 SHT FH/C

Description

The Lantac Lamprey is a hybrid muzzle device built for AR-pattern rifles chambered in .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO. It does two jobs at once — flash suppression and recoil compensation — without the compromises that come from running a dedicated device for each. That matters most to shooters who transition quickly between targets or work in low-light conditions where a bright muzzle signature costs time and situational awareness.

The four-tine toothed crown at the muzzle end breaks up escaping gas as it exits the bore, scattering the combustion products rather than letting them concentrate into a sustained fireball. The result is a shorter, dimmer flash signature compared to what an open muzzle or basic birdcage produces. Six vertical ports then redirect gas upward to push the muzzle back down during the firing cycle, reducing the upward rotation that slows your return to a sight picture between shots. An internal baffle works simultaneously to blunt felt recoil impulse at the shooter’s shoulder.

The device is machined from AISI 4140 steel and hardened to 48–52 Rc, giving it the toughness to handle sustained volume fire without deforming. The QPQ Nitride finish — Lantac calls it Melonite — bonds into the steel surface rather than sitting on top of it, so it resists corrosion and abrasion without adding meaningful dimension. The short profile keeps overall rifle length trim. The 1/2×28 thread interfaces directly with Lantac’s Plan-B HUB system, allowing a compatible suppressor to mount over the Lamprey without removing it first. Each unit is individually serial numbered. A timing shim set is included.
