Description
The Lantac UPS-Ti is a titanium takedown and pivot pin set built for AR-15 shooters who field-strip their rifle regularly and want a cleaner, more controlled process each time. Where mil-spec pins require a punch or a fingernail pressed hard against a spring-loaded detent, the UPS-Ti’s patent-pending ramped groove holds the detent in place during installation, eliminating the fumbling that typically comes with swapping uppers in the field. A second ramp provides access to the retaining slot at 90 degrees, so removal is equally deliberate and tool-free.
Both pins are precision-machined on Swiss-style turning centers from Grade 5 Titanium — the 6AL-4V alloy — and left in a natural finish rather than anodized or coated. The heads are aggressively crenulated, giving your fingers enough purchase to seat and pull the pins without assistance even with gloves or wet hands. The set ships with KNS detents and stainless detent springs, so you have everything needed for a complete swap without sourcing separate hardware. A 3D-printed rear pin removal tool is included as well.
Lantac also built in what they call the QUICKSAFE system: by removing the front pivot pin and threading it through the rear takedown hole from the opposite side, then rotating it so the detent registers in the groove, the lower receiver cannot accept an upper and cannot be disassembled without removing the castle nut and end plate first. It’s a straightforward mechanical lock-out that requires no additional hardware. Both pins are made in the USA.
