Precision shooters running .300 PRC builds on AICS-pattern chassis or bottom metals need a magazine that accounts for the cartridge’s longer overall length — and that distinction matters here. Standard long-action AICS magazines are built around a 3.715-inch chamber length, which is not enough headroom for .300 PRC loaded to CIP specification. This MDT metal magazine is built to the 3.850-inch CIP length, which means rounds seat and feed correctly rather than being crimped or jammed against the feed lips of a shorter box.

The body is formed from high-strength steel throughout, not a hybrid of steel and polymer. MDT applies Cerakote Elite both inside and outside the magazine, which does two things: it creates a hard barrier against corrosion that a simple bluing or parkerizing cannot match at the feed surfaces, and it reduces the friction a round experiences as it strips forward under spring pressure — a meaningful consideration when you are running a bolt quickly under time pressure or in cold conditions where lubricants thicken.

Compatibility is specific by design. This magazine fits AICS-pattern detachable box metal (DBM) chassis and bottom metals that are cut for the longer 3.850-inch well. If your chassis is configured for the standard 3.715-inch magazine — the default in most MDT chassis unless the well was specifically ordered or modified for CIP length — this magazine will not seat correctly. Verify your magazine well length before ordering. It is also not compatible with 300 Remington Ultra Mag, 300 Weatherby, or similarly rebated-rim magnum cartridges, even though the case dimensions may appear close.
