Description

MDT’s metal AICS magazine is built for precision rifle shooters who run AICS-pattern chassis systems or bottom metal and want a magazine that works with them rather than against them when shooting from the prone position or off a rest. Where a standard AICS 10-round magazine sits roughly three-quarters of an inch taller, MDT’s design uses a Double Stack to Single Feed transition — cartridges enter in two columns and merge to a single column near the top — to compress the overall height without sacrificing round count. That shorter profile keeps the magazine from contacting the ground or a bag during prone shooting and makes a faster, cleaner reload.

The body is high-strength steel, nitrided, and then finished inside and out with Cerakote Elite. The internal Cerakote coating matters because it reduces friction along the cartridge’s travel path; two internal ribs assist the same function, smoothing the transition from the double-stack section into the single-feed neck. The result is a feeding geometry that doesn’t rely on spring tension alone to push rounds cleanly into the chamber.

This variant ships with a front binder plate, which holds cartridges back from the magazine’s forward wall and guides them under the feed ramp reliably. That plate limits maximum cartridge overall length to 2.870 inches — worth knowing if you’re loading long for a particular projectile. Shooters who handload to longer overall lengths can source the plateless variant, though that configuration requires modifications to most common actions to prevent bullet tips from contacting the feed ramp.
