The DSSF (Double Stack to Single Feed) transition design routes rounds from a double-stack body into a single-feed column at the top of the magazine, which is how MDT fits 12 rounds into a package that sits roughly three-quarters of an inch shorter than a standard 10-round AICS magazine. That shorter overall height makes mag changes from the prone position noticeably less awkward, since you’re not fighting extra depth against the ground.

The body is manufactured from high-strength steel, nitrided for corrosion resistance at the metal level, then coated inside and out with Cerakote Elite. The interior coating matters here because it directly reduces friction between cartridges and the magazine wall during feeding — a detail that also contributes to the smooth double-to-single transition. Two internal ribs reinforce that transition zone, keeping rounds tracking consistently as the stack narrows toward the feed lips.

Compatibility extends beyond 6mm BR Norma to include 6mm BRA, 6mm BRX, 6mm Dasher, and 22 BR, covering the most common BR-family wildcats built on that case head. One compatibility note worth knowing before ordering: MDT’s own testing found these magazines do not feed reliably out of the box in three-lug actions, though the feed lips can be adjusted to make them work. If you’re running a two-lug action in an AICS-inlet chassis or stock, it drops in and functions as designed.
