MDT’s Gen 2 polymer magazine is built around the AICS short-action footprint, meaning it drops directly into any rifle chassis or bottom metal designed to that standard without modification or shimming. That broad compatibility makes it a practical choice for precision rifle shooters running MDT chassis systems or any other AICS-pattern chassis from competing manufacturers.

The body is injection-molded polymer, which keeps weight down on a rifle that may already be carrying a heavy barrel, a chassis, and an optic. Polymer also resists the corrosion that can develop on steel magazines stored in humid conditions or handled with bare hands over time. The feed lips are reinforced to maintain dimensional consistency under repeated loading cycles, which matters because feed lip deformation is one of the more common failure points in polymer magazines used at high round counts.

Inside, a high-tensile steel spring drives an injection-molded polymer follower upward. The spring’s material choice is deliberate: polymer springs can take a set under sustained compression, while steel holds its rate more reliably across long-term storage. The follower geometry is designed to present each round at a consistent angle as it enters the chamber, which is where feeding reliability is actually won or lost in a bolt-action context.

The floor plate is removable, so the magazine can be disassembled for cleaning without tools. This is worth noting for 6mm ARC shooters running suppressed or in dusty environments, where carbon and debris can accumulate against the follower and degrade feeding over time. Holding 12 rounds, this magazine gives a meaningful capacity advantage over the metal 10-round variant MDT also offers in this chambering.
