Precision bolt-gun shooters running MDT chassis systems built around the CIP-spec 3.850-inch magazine well have a specific compatibility requirement that the standard 3.715-inch AICS magazine cannot meet. This is the magazine designed for that well. The body is manufactured from high-strength steel and finished with Cerakote Elite, which bonds to the metal surface and resists the corrosion and abrasion that bare steel or anodized alloy would accumulate over seasons of field use.

The 3.850-inch overall length matters because magazine well depth is fixed by the chassis or bottom metal — running a shorter magazine in a CIP-spec well leaves it loose and prone to shifting under recoil, while trying to force a longer magazine into a standard 3.715-inch well simply will not seat. Before ordering, confirm which well length your chassis or bottom metal specifies. MDT notes that most of their own chassis ship with the 3.715-inch standard well, with certain ESS-series configurations being the exception that calls for the 3.850-inch CIP length.

The .300 Winchester Magnum headspace and feed geometry are engineered into this specific variant. It is not interchangeable with cartridges like 300 Remington Ultra Mag or 300 Weatherby, which run different overall lengths and shoulder dimensions.
