Description
The Magpul Hunter Lite for the Savage AXIS short action is built for hunters who want a genuinely capable field stock without carrying extra weight through the backcountry. It strips roughly 20% of the mass from Magpul’s original Hunter line and narrows the forend by nearly 25%, so the rifle balances and handles more like a working tool than a bench gun.
At the core of the stock is an extruded aluminum V-bedding block with steel action screw pillars. That combination matters because pillar bedding prevents the stock from compressing under torque over time, keeping the action-to-stock fit consistent season after season rather than drifting as a polymer shell alone would. The V-geometry of the block contacts the action along two angled surfaces, resisting the rotational forces that repeated recoil introduces.
The magazine well is AICS-compatible, which gives access to a wide selection of detachable box magazines rather than tying the shooter to a single proprietary format. An ambidextrous magazine release paddle and stamped steel over-insertion stops round out the feed system. The stock is also configurable for right- or left-hand shooters by swapping the inlet insert — no permanent modification required. An enlarged trigger guard accommodates shooting with gloves on, a practical detail for cold-weather hunts. The stock fits Savage AXIS rifles chambered in short action calibers and accommodates barrel profiles up to Medium Palma contour. This particular version is finished in Olive Drab Green.
