Description

The Magpul MBUS 3 Front Sight is a backup iron sight designed for AR-platform rifles including the AR-10, AR-15, M4, M16, M110, and SR-25. It fills the role of a primary or secondary sighting solution for shooters who want a folding front sight that stays out of the way when not needed and comes up reliably when it is.

Compared to the original MBUS, the MBUS 3 is meaningfully more compact — folded, it sits at just 0.47 inches tall and 1.38 inches at its widest, and the whole assembly weighs 25 grams with hardware. That lower folded profile reduces the chance of snagging on gear and keeps a cleaner sight picture when using a magnified or red dot optic as the primary. The aesthetic language comes from the MBUS Pro, but the MBUS 3 is built from Magpul’s impact-resistant polymer rather than steel, bringing the weight down without sacrificing the durability the platform demands.

Deployment is handled by a spring-loaded ambidextrous push-button, so either hand can bring the sight up without repositioning your grip. When deployed, the sight sits at standard AR height and presents a dual-width enhanced front post — the same style used on the MBUS Pro — allowing shooters to select a post width that suits their target size and lighting conditions. Elevation adjusts tool-free, with 1 MOA per click on a 14.5-inch sight radius and 0.7 MOA per click on a 20-inch sight radius, giving meaningful precision without needing a coin or punch in the field.

One firm installation requirement: this sight must mount to a railed fore-end on the same plane as the receiver rail, not to a railed gas block, where heat buildup would damage the polymer. It is also not compatible with MOE Hand Guards. Made in the USA, available here in Olive Drab Green.
