Description

The Magpul MBUS Front Sight is a folding backup sight built for AR-15 and M16 platforms, intended for shooters who run a primary optic and want a reliable fallback when it fails. The premise is straightforward: optics go down, iron sights do not need batteries. The MBUS Front gives you that insurance without meaningfully adding to your carry weight, since the impact-resistant polymer construction keeps things light while still holding up to hard use in the field.

Deployment is ambidextrous — a push-button or side levers snap the sight up quickly without requiring the shooter to break a firing grip or reposition the support hand. Detents lock both the folded and deployed positions, so the sight stays where you put it under recoil or when moving through brush. Protective wings flank the spring-locking A2-style front sight post, shielding it from the kind of incidental contact that would otherwise bend or knock it off zero. An elevation adjustment tool is included, and the post is also compatible with a standard A2 sight tool if you already carry one.

The sight sits at standard A2 height when deployed, which means it pairs directly with any rear sight designed around that reference — including the companion Magpul MBUS Rear. It mounts to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails and is specifically designed for the AR-15/M16 receiver rail plane. One important compatibility note from the manufacturer: it cannot be mounted to a railed gas block because of heat exposure, and it requires a railed foreend on the same plane as the receiver rail. When stowed, the low-profile body minimizes the chance of snagging on gear or a vehicle interior. Made in the USA.
