Description

The Magpul MBUS Rear Sight is a folding backup iron sight built for AR-15 and M16 platforms, intended for shooters who run a primary optic and want a reliable secondary aiming solution that stays out of the way until it’s needed. It mounts to any M1913 Picatinny rail and folds completely flat when not in use, sitting just 0.51 inches above the rail so it clears most optics and scope bodies without interference.

Deployment is spring-loaded and triggered by a button push, so bringing the sight up under stress doesn’t require a deliberate two-hand operation. Stowing it is equally straightforward. The windage adjustment wheel turns without tools, which matters when you’re correcting for a new zero in the field rather than at a bench with a coin or screwdriver. Detents lock the windage setting in place so handling and recoil don’t walk it off.

The rotating aperture is the functional core of this sight. It offers two aperture sizes on a single wheel: a narrower opening that sharpens focus and aids precision at distance, and a wider ghost-ring-style opening that’s faster to pick up in low light or at close range where target acquisition speed matters more than fine aiming. Neither requires tools to switch between them. When deployed, the center of the aperture sits 1.42 inches above the rail, matching standard AR sight height so it co-witnesses correctly with most front sights and lower-third optic mounts. Construction is impact-resistant polymer, which keeps weight down to 1.3 ounces with hardware. Made in the USA.
