Description

The MBUS 3 is Magpul’s third-generation back-up iron sight, designed for AR-platform rifles including the AR-10, AR-15, M4, M16, M110, and SR25. It represents a deliberate consolidation of two earlier product lines: the original polymer MBUS and the steel MBUS Pro. From the Pro it borrows the low-profile aesthetic and clean aperture geometry; from the original it keeps the impact-resistant polymer construction that keeps weight off the rifle without sacrificing the durability needed from a back-up sight that may spend most of its life folded under a primary optic.

When stowed, the sight sits approximately 0.55 inches above the rail, which matters most when running a magnified optic with a large objective bell or a red dot with a low mount — less height means less interference with a co-witnessed optic and a cleaner sight picture when the MBUS 3 is deployed. Deployment itself is handled by a spring-loaded, ambidextrous push-button, so either hand can bring the sight up without rotating the rifle. At standard AR height when raised, it integrates with any properly configured front sight without requiring height adjustments.

The rear aperture system offers rapid selection between two apertures — useful for switching between close-in work and more deliberate longer-range shooting — and windage is adjustable in approximately half-MOA increments, giving you meaningful precision tuning without the need for tools beyond what the sight itself provides. The whole assembly weighs 30 grams with hardware, so it adds almost nothing to a build’s balance. Finished in Magpul’s Olive Drab Green and made in the USA.
