Description

The Magpul MIAD GEN 1.1 is a drop-in replacement grip for AR-platform rifles—both AR-15 and AR-10 pattern receivers—aimed at shooters who want a more tailored fit than a standard grip allows. The core design logic is modularity: the front and rear straps are interchangeable, so you can mix and match to match the geometry of your hand rather than adapting your grip to whatever came on the rifle. That matters during extended range sessions or when running the rifle in gear, where a poorly fitting grip creates fatigue and inconsistent trigger pull.

The grip shell is textured aggressively enough to maintain purchase even with gloved hands or in wet conditions, without the abrasion that some aggressive textures cause during prolonged contact. Internally, the grip core is compatible with Magpul’s standard storage inserts, and the Type 1 kit includes a compartment sized for a half-ounce lubrication bottle—useful for field maintenance without digging through a bag. Strap retention was updated in the GEN 1.1 revision to keep the selected panels from shifting under use, which was an occasional complaint with earlier MIAD generations.

Installation requires no permanent modification to the lower receiver and uses standard mounting hardware included in the kit. The Flat Dark Earth finish is Magpul’s own color designation—not a generic tan—and coordinates with other Magpul FDE accessories if you’re building to a consistent color scheme.
