Description
The MOE SL-S is Magpul’s storage-capable take on their SL carbine stock, built for shooters who want a slimmer profile without giving up the utility of on-board carry space. It fits directly onto mil-spec carbine receiver extensions from manufacturers like Colt, LMT, Ruger, S&W, and SIG, making it a straightforward drop-in replacement rather than a project that requires additional hardware.
The stock’s defining feature is its pair of O-ring sealed storage tubes, one on each side, each rated waterproof to 10 meters. Each tube holds up to two CR123A lithium or AA batteries and is accessible from the rear of the stock regardless of which position it’s locked in—useful when the stock is collapsed and shoulder room is tight. The tubes are closed with hand-removable rubber plugs, so no tools are needed in the field.
Magpul engineered a sloping cheek weld into the SL-S that keeps the profile narrow while still giving the shooter a consistent, repeatable cheek position. That narrower silhouette matters when running the rifle with body armor, and the rolled toe and angled rubber butt-pad reinforce that priority—the geometry is shaped to clear armor panels during shouldering rather than catch on them. The butt-pad also reduces slippage on soft material.
Fit on the receiver extension tube is managed by an internal anti-rattle leaf spring, which takes up slack without requiring the heavy drag of a friction-only system. Adjustment is handled by dual-side release latches that operate cleanly from either hand. An ambidextrous push-button QD swivel socket is built into the rear of the stock, and a 1.25-inch sling loop sits at the bottom—covering the most common sling configurations without adapters. Finished in Flat Dark Earth.
